Spreadsheets - Movie Profit

Part ONE:
  • Make a Spreadsheet listing 5-10 movies that YOU think were successful
  • Conduct web research and include in the spreadsheet the following:
(For each film, "cite" the webpage where you obtained that information)
    • How much each film cost to make (EXPENSES)
    • How much each film earned (REVENUE)
    • How long each movie lasts in minutes

EXPENSES = Costs incurred to create the product
REVENUE = Sales dollars earned by selling the product

CHART #1:
Create a graph that clearly demonstrates which films earned the most money

Part TWO:
Create spreadsheet calculations that will tell you:
  1. What the TOTAL PROFIT was for each film (REVENUE - EXPENSES)
  2. How much each second of film cost to make (EXPENSES / (MINUTES x 60))
  3. How much each second of film earned (REVENUE / (MINUTES x 60))

PROFIT = REVENUE - EXPENSES

CHART #2
Create a graph that demonstrates which films were the most PROFITABLE

Part THREE:
Create a final set of calculations that will tell you
  1. What the ratio of PROFIT to EXPENSE was for each movie (PROFIT / EXPENSES)

"RETURN ON INVESTMENT" = PROFIT / EXPENSES

CHART #3
Create a graph that demonstrates which films had the greatest RETURN ON INVESTMENT
